All About Love

Of all the aspect of love bell hooks covers through her work All About Love, I believe that the most crucial of all of them is commitment. If you don't commit to your partner, there's really no bond that will hold the two of you together, creating solid ground on which a sturdy relationship can be built on.  The relationship will almost surely collapse without solid commitment from both partners. That being said, I believe that all the ingredients she covered were all key components, and should all be found in a healthy, steady relationship.  I believe that one of the most overlooked aspects of love is honesty.  I know from experience, that when there's a lack in honesty, all progress in a relationship comes to a halt, and even backtracks. Some couples think that it's alright to let things slide, or that a little fib won't hurt.  But the truth is, they can hurt, and absolute honesty is crucial to a successful relationship.

Investigative Type

The investigative type: Like to investigate, solve and analyze problems.  Generally like math and science-based classes prefer to observe/study different subjects.

• Microbiology

Career Options:

• Aerospace Engineer
• Biotechnologist
• Laboratory Supervisor

Overall, I'd say that these major types and career options are what i expected to match up with what i want.  i think majoring somewhere in the field of science and technology is something that I've always wanted.  don't get me wrong, I've changed possible career options multiple times, but they've all generally stayed in the same field.

My hero

My biggest hero is my dad.  He looked pretty normal, and didn't really share any traits with any super heroes.  He didn't run into a burning building and save a hundred kittens from their fiery demise.  He didn't really go through a hero's journey, but what he did have was a heart of gold.  He showed more care for those around him than I've ever seen anyone show.  He was so passionate in everything he did, and he always tried his best. If I had to chose a figure that we've seen so far in out heroes unit, he is comparable to the hero Life in RLSH.  That was the type of guy my dad was, even with complete strangers.  If someone needed something, he wouldn't hesitate to ask what he could do to help. When I said he never ran into a burning building to save anyone, it's because the opportunity never arose.  If there was such a situation, he would undoubtedly go in without thinking of himself, as long as he could potentially help others.  That's what made him a hero to me.  So while he didn't have physical traits and the physical strength of a super hero (although he was a pretty beafy guy xD ), he did have the mindset of one, and never ceased to show it.  His passion for helping others and being the nicest guy I know is highly inspiring to me, and gives me an extremely high role model to look up to. 

Blogging About Blogs

Atronomy This blog posts both picture and new discoveries in the world of astronomy.  Astronomy really is something that fascinates me because it forces me to put our tiny planet in perspective with unfathomably large objects and systems in space.  It's alwasy been a great hobby to read up on, and i would definitely consider possibly pursuing it as a backup career.
Biology 1 Biology is the study of life, and this blog well...basically makes posts about anything under that living category. It has a whole range of diagrams and informational texts that I find very interesting.
Biology 2 Again like the above post, this blog covers a lot about animal biology, but also covers a bit of school-learned molecular biology.  I particularly like this blog because I will hopefully pursue a career as a laboratory technologist, and would potentially be working with a lot of things that are slightly covered in this blog.

Freedom of Speech

I think that the whole video blew out of proportion.  That being said, i think that the original poster did slightly abuse our freedom of speech.  I think that freedom of speech gives us the right to state our opinions and beliefs...with respect.  I don't think that this include purposefully disrespecting a culture, especially on a topic that has had previous problems similar to this.  But I don't think that the poster of the video is the only one to blame.  I think that the protesters took things out of hand, and i don't think that violence was necessary in order for them to express their offence at the video.  I also think that it's unreasonable to state that " slur against their faith was a greater offense than any attack on a living person."  That shouldn't be the case for anything, i understand that different cultures consider different things sacred, but i think that human lives are of utmost importance.

HEEEERRROOOOes

I don't think that a single person can take on the role of being a hero for an entire country.  Putting that kind of responsibility on a person is nearly impossible.  Yes, a president can make many changes and can certainly help many of the country's issues, but I think that when it comes down to it, our country needs many heroes.  It's not about how many things a single person can do.  I think that we need heroes in numbers.  The people that can make the biggest changes are the people that do little things that can add up.  These people can have regular qualities, they're just average looking people, but they generally have big hearts.  So i think that yes, out country needs heroes, but one is not enough.  A little bit of effort from a lot of people can really add up and make many positive changes for the country.

Education

I think that education in America is important for multiple reasons.  The first obvious reason to educate our country is because the youth of our country will someday be in charge and responsible for the way our country will be run.  Do you really want a group of uneducated people running our future country? If you think it's not a problem because we can simply elect those people that are educated, remember that these same uneducated people will still be able to vote on different laws, so in a sense they hold just as much power.

Another reason why education in America is important is because we as a nation need to keep up with the rest of the world.  I'm not saying that we need to be better than any countries, but i think that's it's important to keep up with technology in an ever-advancing world.

On a more personal note, education is important because many jobs in current times are tough to get.  In tough times, companies and businesses can't afford to just hire anyone.  These businesses want to get the best of the best; the people that know how to do work and achieve what they want them to achieve in the workplace.  Education through high school and especially college will prove to these companies that you not only have the required knowledge to complete the tasks they need to be completed, but it shows that you've had the discipline to attend high school and (possibly college), which proves that you have the capability of showing up on time and completing necessary tasks.  Not only are you more likely to get hired for certain jobs, but you're also more likely to get paid higher than less educated employees.  Employers may recognize your hard work through your education and will reward you for this work, which also helps them because happy people do nice work.
